Kingdom Quest Treasure Hunters is a game made by Mission Revive, LLC and played through local churches. This page explains what the game website at kqthunt.com collects and why. We keep it to the minimum the game needs.
Finding your game
To show you the treasure hunt near you, the site asks for your device location or a postal (zip) code.
- Your device location is used only to find nearby games. It is kept temporarily in your browser session on our server and is not saved to our database or sent to Google Analytics.
- If you enter a postal code, it is sent to our map lookup service (geocode.maps.co) to find its location.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the game is played, for example how many people visit each church's game, which printed card or partner business they came from, which game videos are watched, and whether players visit the church's livestreams. We share these totals with the church hosting the game so it can see how the outreach went.
We do not send your name, email address or exact location to Google Analytics. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects standard information such as device type, browser and approximate area (city level). Google's advertising features and Google signals are turned off for this site.
You can block analytics with your browser's privacy settings or with Google's opt-out add-on.
Digital game cards
When you open a digital game card from a host location's QR code, we count which card was opened and when. If you viewed your church's game page earlier in the same visit, we also record which game it was. This helps us see whether host locations are running low on printed cards.
Finale RSVPs
If you tap "I'm coming" for a finale event, we save only the number of people in your group and which game it is for, so the church can plan. We do not ask for names or contact details.
Finale videos
When you view a church's game page while the game is running, your browser keeps a small cookie with that game's number, so that after the finale the game page can offer you the finale videos to watch again. It holds game numbers only: no name, contact details or location. It expires after six months, and you can clear it at any time in your browser's settings.
Email updates
If you sign up for updates on a game page, we save your email address, which church's game you signed up from, and when. We use it to send you news about the treasure hunt, a short note after the game asking how it went, and word of future Kingdom Quest treasure hunts. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you at any time. We don't sell your email address.
The church hosting your game also receives your email address, so it can keep in touch with you, for example about upcoming events and services. Once the church has it, the church's own privacy practices apply: to stop hearing from the church, use the unsubscribe link in its emails or contact the church directly. Unsubscribing from our emails doesn't remove you from the church's list.
Stories and videos
If you share a story or video about your treasure hunt, we save what you send, with the name, town and email address you choose to give, and which game it is about. Videos are stored privately on our server, not on a public page. The church that hosted your game can see your story and video, with the name and town you gave, but not your email address. Because you tick the permission box, Kingdom Quest Treasure Hunters and the church that hosted your game may use your story or video to promote future treasure hunts, for example on our website or social media. To have a story removed, email us.
Children
Kids are welcome to play, and the game itself doesn't ask players for personal information. Email sign-ups and stories are for people 13 or older, or a parent or guardian on behalf of their family, and we ask you to confirm that. A story or video from someone under 18 needs a parent or guardian's permission. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you think we have, email us and we'll delete it.
Other websites
Game videos are played through YouTube, and links to a church's website, livestreams or map directions take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.
Churches using the Admin Portal
Church staff who set up a game provide contact and church details in the Admin Portal. We use that information only to run the game and support the church.
